The List

Blog update:

In an attempt to embark on a fearless journey of new experiences, cultural discovery and definition, and a life of open expression about my deepest, most honest and critical thoughts, I may have gotten a little off track. Not to say that I haven’t started this journey, because I have, but I think I need a little more structure.

So far, I haven’t had a problem expressing my thoughts about big issues, like abortion, the beauty ideal and the LGBT community. I’ve been consistently blogging to define my culture. I’ve written about my family history, my west coast roots, and what it means to be a young, working, recent college grad.

I think it’s the experience section that needs a little work. I blogged about the 2-person bike, which was the inspiration behind But do they have RANCH?, and I’ve definitely started cooking. Without this blog I wouldn’t have made the ultimate sour cream and chicken enchiladas, or a very grown up Italian pasta dish, but it’s time to push myself a little further.

I will continue to post about world happenings and big issues, as well as my road to cultural discovery and definition, but I will add The List to my fear conquering journey.

By my count there are approximately 29 weeks left in 2013. I’ve come up with a list of all the things I want to conquer by the end of this year. You might be a little confused by some of the things on my list [like “get a haircut” or “buy a real bed”], but trust me, these are things that have been hard for me to do for years. Yes, years.

I haven’t had a haircut in a salon in over 4 years, and I’ve slept on a futon for almost 2 years. I know it’s time to get a real bed, but what kind? Should I get it delivered? Beds are so expensive, and a mattress won’t fit in my Jetta?! Maybe I should have gotten an SUV last year when I bought my first car?? It’s these types of concerns that have prevented me from getting it together and living an anxiety free life, but I’m declaring 2013 as the year to make some big changes.

I will post about each of these experiences, and you can stay up to date on my progress by clicking on the 2013 List in the menu bar above. I hope you’ll join me on this journey and feel free to check out the list below!
