Give Thanks for the Pet in Your Life

I recently read an article about the mass poisoning of dogs in Hermosillo, which is a city in northern Mexico. I won’t go into the details, but it made me realize how thankful I need to be for the animals in my life.

Pets are the world’s most innocent creatures. Unable to speak, their only means of communication rest in their owners’ willingness to listen, look, and see into their often fragile hearts and minds.

So today, I am thankful for Almond, my very anxious, sometimes too much to handle, but oh so loveable chihuahua mix, as well as Nino, my very mischievous, always cuddly, labrador trapped in a giant orange cat’s body.

I adopted both of my animals from local animal shelters and I urge all of you to adopt a pet, but only IF you have the time to care for it. There are so many animals that need adopting so make sure to visit the shelter before you opt for that purebred puppy!
